Hamilton Neighbourhood

Hamilton Ontario is a superb place to live! It is a large city with plenty of opportunity. Currently there are over 715,000 people living in Hamilton, and it is the 8th largest population centre in Canada. Hamilton includes the City of Hamilton, the City of Burlington, and the Town of Grimsby. Hamilton is a great location in that it is close to the U.S, and is also within arm's reach of other major business and metro areas such as Toronto (less than an hour's drive). Hamilton is made up of several distinct yet exciting neighbourhoods. The Lower City includes Ainsley Wood is on the west-side. Westdale is a residential area that is situated near McMaster University, and is home to Westdale Village which hosts a wide variety of shopping and dining venues. The North End is literally "across the tracks" from downtown Hamilton. Like many other cities in Canada and around the world, Hamilton has a Chinatown district. Corktown is an Irish neighbourhood to the southeast of downtown Hamilton.

Other neighbourhoods of the Lower City include Durand, Bartonville, Normanhurst, Rosedale, Kirkendall, and Greenhill. Stoney Creek is on the southern end of beautiful Lake Ontario. Also included here are Jamesville, International Village, Locke Street, Hamilton East, Riverdale, Dundas, and Little Racalmuto.

The "Mountain" Section of Hamilton includes Concession, Ancaster Village (a suburban section of town), Mount Hope, Greensville, Upper Stoney Creek, Binbrook, Sherwood, Meadowlands, Millgrove, Waterdown (a great family neighbourhood) and West Flamborough.

As one can see from the photos above, Hamilton is a very picturesque town, and obviously has many seasons. The types of housing that is found here is as varied as the residents of Hamilton. Quaint cottages with Ivy cascading down the walls are not an uncommon sight. Single family ranch-style homes can also be found in many parts of the city. There is also an abundance of apartments and condominiums here as well.

Apartment Rental and Property Management Tidbits - When considering a new rental, the most important element is most often location. A rental that is far from where you work can end up costing quite a bit of cash in terms of commuting costs. Think about the cost/benefit of where you are considering, and also if it seems to be near shops and establishments that you frequent. Being close to family and friends might also be a consideration.
