Lloydminster is a city in Alberta. This city can be a little confusing, though, since it sits smack-dab on the border of two provinces. The border, as we have learned, really runs down 50th avenue in the centre of Lloydminster. However, the city is really considered to be one population centre, and for this page, we will assign it to Alberta!

Lloydminster is a pretty nice sized town. About 27,000 residents call this place home. Not a city near the mountains to the west, but it is situated more in the flatlands of the province, and country. The majority live on the Alberta side.

The major industry that "fuels" the economy, so to speak, is the petroleum industry. However, being in prime farmland, agriculture is also a big deal here too. An interesting marriage of these two industries has occurred in the recent past. Farmers actually lease out their land to these oil companies so they can drill on their land. Sounds like a pretty good arrangement, since often times farmers have a hard time making ends meet.

The area is growing in terms of size and population, so naturally, that makes the housing market more competitive. Since Curling is now a major deal in Canada (well, it actually has always been pretty big here - it has just gotten a lot of attention in recent years with the Olympics), there are 8 "sheets" in town for this exciting sport. There are also a few campgrounds, 1 outdoor swimming pool, and quite a few soccer fields. The Bud Miller All Seasons Park is quite a gem!
