Lander does offer the best of both worlds - nature and outdoor offerings coupled with the amenities and services of a "real" town. With 22,000 plus people in the area, and coupled with the suburban area of Tsawwassen, you have the area that people refer to as South Delta. This is a fishing village predominately that has a lot of water surrounding. Birds love the area too, and there is an impressive bird sanctuary here too - the Riefle Bird Sanctuary. It is a lovely area ripe with wild flowers (in the summer) and snowgeese.

The people of Ladner take pride in their town, and their homes. Among the waterfront homes and Victorian houses in the area, you'll find hanging plants just about everywhere the eye takes you and not much in the way of trash and pollution. Just outside of Ladner there is fertile farmland and farmhouses. You may also catch a glimpse of some very historic buildings that remind you of the pioneer days. The downtown core of Ladner is a great pedestrian area. You'll find pubs, cafes and plenty of specialty shops. As you might imagine, commercial space is quite valuable in Ladner, especially in the warmer months when tourists start showing up in droves. Ladner Village has a real "Main Street" feel to it. Wintertime can be very pretty here as well. The snow-covered neighbourhoods tucked against the shoreline can make for quite a picturesque setting.

Ladner is going through a boom in condominium development. A condo is becoming a good investment in this area, since many of the units owned are lived in part of the year, and then rented out as vacation units. This helps the owners to pay their mortgage with rents collected. With this condo explosion, the population of Ladner seems to be growing as well.

Ladner is a great place for families, though. There are plenty of amenities, schools, and services that families look for in choosing a town. There are a handful of malls, and 2 public swimming pools, a library and community centre. Delta Hospital offers medical services to Ladner residents. Some of the schools are Delta Secondary, Hawthorne, Ladner, and Port Guichon. There are a few independent schools as well.
