Sorry, No further rental listings at
this time for Jasper |

There are a lot of truly beautiful places in Canada - too many to count actually.
I created this site to give myself an excuse to discover all of the great places
in Canada, and hopefully to be able to visit as many as I can.
It was a pleasure learning more about Hope, British Columbia. A small town
for sure, and one that I had honestly never heard of before someone wanted to
list a property on my site. Usually, my standard operating procedure is that
if I add a new page on the site, I also write about it a bit and try to add
some photos to it. This way, if a home or apartment listing on that page expires
or is removed, there is still some good stuff for the visitor to look at.
I first found a page that had some pretty basic stats about the town. Hope
is located in the southern section of the province, and has about 7000 or so
people. It is in one of the most perfect locations. There are some absolutely
spectacular mountains in the area, as well as crystal-blue rivers and lush forests.
My absolute goodness! I recently came across a spectacular photo of
Jasper, Alberta taken from a mountain top, and I now want to book a plane
ticket and go there. I love it when I am working on my site here, and
I discover a town or a place that just calls out to me. Jasper is one
of those towns.
What's there to like? Towering mountains surrounding the Athabasca River
valley where Jasper is situated? Perhaps it is the lush and green forests
that blanket the perimeter as far as the eye can see. I think it is really
a combination of many things. When you put together a friendly community
that is in one of the most picturesque locations in the world, clean air,
and a healthy economy, what's there not to like?
Jasper is pretty small if you just count the number of people living
here (less than 5,000 year-rounders), but it is big on a lot of other
things. Tourism is a healthy part of the economy here. Jasper National
Park is a major draw (by the way, the park recently celebrated it's 100th
birthday - congratulations!) with it's untouched wilderness areas, rugged
peaks, wide and majestic valleys, and glaciers, and waterfalls to tempt
the camera lens! This is a huge park that covers over 4200 square miles
of terrain. There are tons of hiking trials. The park website says that
there are well over a thousand miles of park trails that can be found
here.
Jasper itself is very welcoming to new residents. We all know that moving
to a new town can be a daunting task that can take a mental and physical
toll. Finding a home or an apartment just adds to that stress. You'll
be glad to know, however, that the town of Jasper has a 'Survival
Guide' that will help soften the blow. In the first few pages they
say "We welcome you as a new local into what we think is one of the
friendliest towns in Canada."
I mean, you really can't start off any better than that! However, on
the flip side, they do say that accommodation is hard to come by in Jasper.
Especially in the Peak season during May and October. They make a recommendation
of staying in one of their handful of Hostels while you look into more
permanent digs. Whistlers Mountain Hostel, Maligne Canyon Hostel, and
the Athabasca Falls Hostels are all open year-round. The Beauty Creek
Hostel and the Mount Edith Cavell Hostel are open Mid-May to October.
There is a common number you can call to find out more information about
all of these hostels: 1-877-852-0781. All of these hostels have Job Postings
as well.
What can you expect to pay for accommodations? A bachelor suite in Jasper
can run over $500 per month. Shared Accommodation can be around $300 to
$400 a month. Usually a damage deposit is requested. Some local business
do provide employee housing.
Another great resource to find a place to live is by checking out the
Jasper Booster
newspaper.
Jasper really wants you to be successful in your move to this beautiful
town. It can be understandable that accommodations are a bit difficult
to come by, but persistence is the key. The locals are friendly and willing
to help with questions and suggestions. Be polite and respectful to the
locals there, and you'll help to keep the town of Jasper one of the friendliest
places you might ever live. |

Tips - You may be able to negotiate a lesser rent if you sign on
for a longer lease. Ask the property manager or landlord if this is an option.
On the flipside, the rent may be more expensive if you sign a shorter lease. |
