Serene: The Annapolis River can put you at ease in a matter of moments. The blue water ambles through the area with a profound sense of being unhurried. On a pretty spring day, you'll want to just sit and let your mind wander.

Active: On the flip side, there is a lot going on in town. Community events seem to happen here frequently. The Heart of the Valley Festival is great for the family. There is usually a parade and other activities. The town also has a plethora of activities and community events and clubs for all ages. You might find a men's potluck dinner at the Middleton Baptist Church or a Seniors Luncheon. Kids might participate in "Teen Time" at the Rosa M. Harvey Library. Preschoolers may attend Craft and Story time at the Library as well.

Proximity: Middleton, or the "Heart of the Valley" as it is known for, is close to many major cities and attractions. Halifax is a short 90 minute drive to the east, and Dartmouth is the same distance in the opposite direction (west).

Educated: Over 23 percent of all residents in Middleton have a university degree. That is well over the average for Nova Scotia as a whole.

Giving: Many of the residents of Middleton give their time to volunteer causes and organizations in the area. Many of these people volunteer for seniors, helping to give them care and assistance.

Be warned, though. If you visit Middleton, you might just decide to stay for a lifetime. There are many great homes here, and many of them are rentals too. With the home prices here being more affordable than you might find elsewhere, the rental rates can also be very competitive.
